TM Window (under their Florida’s Best brand) Participates in Industry Water Intrusion Study

Following the back-to-back hurricanes that wracked Florida in 2004 and 2005, the Florida Building Commission (Commission) established the Hurricane Research Advisory Committee (HRAC) to address water intrusion problems in residential construction. The Commission further established the Window Workgroup of which the Fenestration Manufacturers Association (FMA) is a member.

The FMA and its members have been working for the past three years to address any areas of water intrusion which will lead to establishing building code changes to prevent water intrusion in future storm events.

The University of Florida, under contract to the Commission, has been researching the current test methods used in the fenestration industry as well as window installations.

The third phase of this testing addresses mulled window units either field installed or factory installed in concrete block walls. Testing is being done to ASTM E 331 standards and the results will be made available to the Commission for potential building code changes in the 2010 Florida Building Code.

TM Windows, a proud member of the FMA, is participating in this product testing along with 5 other FMA manufacturers. TM Windows and its Florida’s Best brand are committed to stay on the leading edge of building code requirements to ensure affordable category 5 protection.
